it has decided to join the effort. >> that sounds like what they need, don knapp thank you very much. investigators are sorting through tips in the prime suspect of the las vegas strip shooting. they are looking for harris. they say he was the one who shot and killed an inspiring rapper, an oakland native, as he was identified as the prime suspect last night tips are pouring in. yesterday the police found the car that was seen speeding from the shooting last week. two other people were killed when the car cherry was riding in hit a taxi and it burst into flames. 10 people are out of their homes after a two-alarm fire in the tender loin neighborhood. police officers saw smoke coming from golden gate and larkin street. the police went banging on the doors to get everyone out. 30 to 40 residents were forced to evacuate. >> i heard pounding on the door

and the firemen were there and they said we had to get out. >> reporter: nobody was hurt. just how the fire started is still under investigation. >> investigators have released a sketch of the gunman. this man is wanted for attempted robbery on friday at a parking garage. he pulled a gun and demanded the victim's money. the victim grabbed a man's arm and wrestled away. the two men fell to the ground fighting over the weapon and both took off unhurt. new details tonight about mc hammer's brush with the law. the sheriff's office says that the vehicle hammer was in during his arrest had expired tags and belonged to another person. hammer was arrested thursday night at the crossing shopping center in dublin. when asked for proof of ownership he began to argue and then he refused to step out of

budget cuts kick in, congress is heading back to work tomorrow. so far -- lawmakers have been unable to agree on a plan to avoid the dreaded "sequester". kpix 5's anne makovec with more on how the cuts could impact california. just days before cuts happen congress is going to go back to work tomorrow. we have more on how the cuts can impact california. >> the latest doomsday deadline on capitol hill. >> i am calling this one murder- suicide of government services and it is going to crash our economy. >> reporter: $85 billion worth of cuts set to take place on friday and congress is in recess. >> we are facing a government shutdown and the american people are not going to react positively to that. we are seeing fragile economic growth in our economy and only congress stands in the way of that growth right now. >> reporter: as usual, congress can not agree and it might be all of us who might have to pay. the white house released this detailed list of impact state

by state what to expect if the hatchet comes down. >> reporter: in california we would lose $88 million in education funding putting 1200 teacher and aid jobs at risk. >> this is the spring. you are trying to bundleet your plan for the fall. with this much chaos coming from washington, the fact that it is so easily avoidable is why i am so angry. >> reporter: defense spending in the crosshairs in california alone. employees would be furloughs, army funding cut by $54 million, the air force, $15 million. >> what we are doing to the men and womeny are -- women are serving they deserve a predictable life in the military. >> reporter: and a cut to the parks could mean less trash pick up and that could mean more bears, and at the airport,
